SHAWNEE, Okla. —

Shawnee resident Wanda Sue (McMakin) Billingsly died Friday, July 18, 2008, in Shawnee at the age of 76.
She was born Oct. 5, 1931, in Shawnee to  William Carr and Ella S. (Allen) McMakin.
She was married to Donald Billingsly.
She lived most of her life in Shawnee. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1949.
She worked as a waitress/hostess for Jay's Steak House. She was a very prideful woman and caregiver to all who needed her.  She loved her grandchildren immensely.  When the great-grandchildren were born, she had them call her G-G, and was very proud of them all. She loved reading to them.  When you needed to learn, she taught. When you needed guidance, her understanding helped you make the right choices. When your life was missing something, she could help you find it. When life got messy, with her heart and home you were always welcome. She brought our family together and if we ever needed to know that we were loved, all we had to do was look at her face, and we knew how fortunate we were. There is no way to say in words all of the wonderful ways that Wanda touched our lives. For those who had the pleasure of being part of Wanda's life, her love, tenderness, kindness, and values changed ours. She was a mother, a wife, a sister, and perhaps most importantly, a friend.
Wanda can now join her father and mother, William and Ella McMakin and her sister Charolett Dillner, as they watch over the lives of their remaining family. They will be rejoicing with the Lord.
Survivors include daughters, Susan and Randy McKiddy of Hot Springs, Ark., and LeDawn and Randy Malchar of Shawnee; grandchildren and their spouses, Bradley Jacobs of Shawnee, Amy and Kenny Guffey of Shawnee, Haley and Duane Smith of Houston, Texas, Kayla and Steve Whiddon of McKinney, Texas, Austin Malchar of Dallas, Texas, and Allen and Tonya McKiddy of Hot Springs, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Spencer Jacobs, Madison and Maci Whiddon, Shyanne, Jacie and Logan  McKiddy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Louise McMakin of Shawnee, and James and Lorraine McMakin of Oxnard, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Lloyd Dunavan of Shawnee.
Wanda, as the sun sets each day, please know that we will miss you.
Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Anna Jantz officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.  To share memories, or to sign the guest book on-line, go to www.cooperfuneral.com.
