Former resident of Shawnee John Dean Keith, 87, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Norman Veterans Center.
John was born Dec. 16, 1922 in Grove, Okla. to James Monroe and Mary Elizabeth (Buie) Keith. He quit school to work for the C.C.C. and then joined the military. He served in the United States Army during W.W.II and the Korean Conflict. He married Daisy “Cookie” West on March 24, 1949. John retired from Tinker Air Force Base. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, and a life time member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed playing pool, and was known as “Walkaway John”, going to garage sales, flee markets, watching football and dancing at the V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Ritha Kay; and two brothers, Troy and James Keith.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann Peck of Oklahoma City, Louise Field and Bery of Oklahoma City, Leoma Walker and Ray of Seminole; grandchildren, Sean Dyche of Del City, Sabrina and Bill Sparrow of Oklahoma City, Amber and Anthony Dixon of Yukon, Jason and Janice Weigand of Choctaw, Kristina and Aaron Tackett of Oklahoma City, Denton Field of Oklahoma City, Alan Field of Oklahoma City, Becca and Kevin Jessop of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Ty Field, Jaden Dixon, Alexandra and Adalyn Sparrow; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Wake Service will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
