Tracy A. Pierce, 72, passed from this life Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, in Shawnee.
He was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Fox to John and Rosie Mae (Ogletree) Pierce.
Tracy attended school as a child in both Healdton and in California. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served proudly on the USS Bonhommerichard CVA31. He worked for 25 years at Foster Farms Poultry Farms before moving back to Oklahoma in 1994. He worked for 11 years at Higgins & Sons Roof Truss Company in Tecumseh. Most recently, he was a housekeeping manager supervisor at the Firelake Grand Casino where he thoroughly loved working and interacting with the employees and customers, making many friends throughout the years.
He married Terry (Harris) Pierce in August 1993 and they enjoyed 34 wonderful years together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 12 brothers and sisters, and loving mother-in-law, Deloras Gates.
He is survived by his loving wife, Terry, of the home; children, Brandon Pierce of Shawnee, Tracy A. Pierce Jr., DeAnna and Wesley Voeks of Shawnee, David and Sherri Crigger of Orlando, Fla., Robert Crigger of Livingston, Calif., Valorie Marcum of Richmond, Kan.; siblings, Arbra and Sue Pierce of Allen, Ilene “Sis” Pierce of Ardmore; sisters-in-law, Carol Pierce of Healdton and Jodi and Stan Donehue of Chowchilla, Calif.; grandchildren, Justyn Forrest, Kara and Hope Voeks of Shawnee, Heather, Kimberly, Sarah, Scott, Alec, and Thomas Crigger of California, and Ryan and Cody Crigger of Orlando, Amanda Lopez and Eric Lester of Richland, Kan.; and great-grandsons, Dominic and Landon of Richmond, Kan.; as well as many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Tracy loved Nascar, fishing, going to the casino, and spending time with his grandkids who adored him. He was the hardest working, generous and loving man we had the pleasure of calling dad, husband, grandfather, brother and friend.
The family would like to thank the Unity Cancer Center staff for the care they gave him through the years. A special thank you to Janet and Shanon at Lifecare Hospice and Dr. Gregory Grant at SMCC for the kindness and compassion you showed. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the wonderful employees Firelake Grand Casino. Your love for Tracy and support of the family meant the world to him. He loved all of you very much and we thank you for everything you have done.
A celebration of life service for Tracy will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, at McLoud Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1127 W. Broadway, McLoud.
Arrangements are under Corbett Funeral Home, Oklahoma City. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
