Nowata, Okla. —


Juanita Alva Richardson English of Nowata passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Osage Nursing Home. Juanita was 91 years of age.
She was born March 22, 1918, in Saint Louis, Okla., to Docia Campbell Richardson and Zelta Richardson.
She attended Tecumseh schools and graduated with the class of 1937. She attended her 67th class reunion in 2004 and was one of only three living members.
 Juanita married Earl Edward English Sr. on Sept. 29, 1936, in Arapaho, Okla. They had three children, Barbara, Edward and Shari.
 Mrs. English attended beauty college after high school and was a licensed beautician for 14 years. She owned and operated her own shop in Tecumseh and later moved the shop to her home where she continued to work for many years. She worked alongside her husband in ranching and with his city management duties until his retirement in 1980. Mr. and Mrs. English moved to Tishomingo where they raised cattle. In 1994 they moved to Nowata to be closer to their daughter Shari and her family because of failing health.
 Mrs. English was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years on Oct. 21, 1998; her parents, Docia and Zelta Richardson; one sister, Golda Cormi Richardson; and three brothers, Hugh Gordon Richardson, Rosco Edward Richardson and J.M. Richardson.
Mrs. English is survived by her children and their spouses, Barbara and Edward Hughes of Waco, Texas, Edward and Toni English of Tecumseh, and Shari and David Pierce of Nowata; ten grandchildren, Debbie and MC Sutton, Kim and Bradley Coker, Clay and Heather Lasiter, Tracy and Tim Jones, Travis English, Sandra and Darrell Bradley, Angela and David Franklin, Nicci and Jeff Davis, Lucas and Michele Pierce, and Tyler and Carissa Pierce; 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Richardson of Slaughterville,  and Ruth Tennyson of Shawnee; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. English also left behind her family at Osage Nursing Home and a large group of friends she has made along her journey.
 Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.
