Marty lived her life with dignity and grace while bravely fighting a debilitating disease. Margaret Ann Grantham (Marty), 62, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at the Shawnee Care Center in Shawnee.
Marty was born March 6, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas. She was the youngest of two children and graduated from Star Spencer High School in Midwest City. Marty lived most of her life in Midwest City. She was in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and worked civil service at Tinker AFB until her retirement. For the past 12 years, Marty made her home in Shawnee. She lived life to the fullest, enjoyed meeting people and was the  official greeter at Virginia’s Home Furnishings. Marty was active in her church, Shawnee Seventh Day Adventist, and in serving in the women’s prison and jail ministry.
She was preceded in death by  her parents, Loran and Edna Shepherd and grandson, David Howard.
Marty is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Mike Howard of Brunswick, Ga., and Leanne and David Dabney of Warr Acres; two grandsons, Christopher Roberts and Zachary Pendegraft and sister, Virginia Lee Brendle of the home.
Marty accepted Jesus as her savior at a young age. She  lived her faith, loved God, loved her country and loved her family and friends. Her hobbies and  interests included cross stitch, puzzles, her pets and helping others.
Her memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Shawnee Seventh Day Adventist Church, 430 North Center with Pastor Jerry States officiating.
Donations can be made in the name of Marty Grantham to the Shawnee Seventh Day Adventist Church, Prison Ministry or the Alzheimer’s Association.
