Lifetime Shawnee resident Robert Lee (Bob) Nelson passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009.
Bob was born on Nov. 26, 1914, in Shawnee and lived in the Shawnee area for 94 years. He would have celebrated his 95th birthday on Nov. 26, 2009.
Bob was a retired excavation contractor who owned and operated his own company (Nelson Construction) for many years in Shawnee.
Bob was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church in Shawnee and a lifetime member of the Shawnee Elks Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Daisy Nelson; wives, Daisy Faye Nelson of 25 years and Mary Louise Nelson of 33 years; one brother, Clarence Nelson, and sister, Thelma; two sister-in laws, Betty Nelson and Bernice Nelson; one son, Phillip Nelson, two son-in-laws, Darrell Wallis and Noland Martin; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Nelson; granddaughter, Daisy Lynn Robison; and great-grandson, Jacob Robison.
He is survived by sons, Bobby and his wife Donna Nelson and George Bruce (G.B.) Nelson; daughters, Roberta Wallis, Sherry Martin of Meeker and Nancy Robison and her husband Chris; three brothers, L.K Nelson, Bruce Nelson, and Johnny and his wife Glendora (Speck). Also 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home under the dierection of Resthaven Funeral Home.
