Shawnee resident Glen W. Edwards, 68, died Friday, July 23, 2010, in Shawnee.
He was born May 30, 1942, in Concho, Okla., to John W. and Martha (Ellis) Edwards. Born in Concho, he was raised in the Little Community area north of Seminole, and lived most of his adult life in the Denver, Dallas, Lawton and  Shawnee areas.  He attended Pawnee Boarding School, “Gravy U”, and graduated from Prairie Valley High.  He attended Kansas University on an academic scholarship and transferred to play basketball at Haskell Institute where he graduated in 1964.
 He retired as the Executive Director of Absentee Shawnee Housing Authority.  He was a proud member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe.
Glen enjoyed all sports, especially fast pitch softball, as well as basketball and football.  He played AAA Fast Pitch Softball in Denver, Colo.  He enjoyed working outdoors, going to the movies and spending time with his grandsons.  Glen was an OU fan and a St. Gregory's University fan.  
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, James Lee Edwards.        
Survivors include his mother, Martha Edwards; daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Scott Miller of Shawnee; grandsons, Connor Edwards-Miller, and Brody Miller; “Adopted” grandsons, Bryse Russell and Brayden Turner; sisters,  Charlene Whittington of Shawnee, Gilreath Godwin of Knoxville, Iowa, Atheda Fletcher of Houston, Texas, and Cheryl Kennedy of Shawnee; brother, John L. Edwards of Shawnee; former spouse, Nancy Edwards of Shawnee; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 29,  at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Allan Colbert officiating. Burial will be at Johnson Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
