SHAWNEE, Okla. —

The Rev. Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Burgess, 92, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in Shawnee.  He was born Dec. 8, 1916, in Lindsay to David and Maggie (Dickey) Burgess.
Woodrow served his country in the U. S. Army and retired from Tinker Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his Cocker Spaniel, Princess.
 He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers; his wife, Rosa Bell Burgess; sons, Marcus Burgess and David Burgess; and daughter, Martha Jo McAdoo.
He is survived by one sister, Lucille Hennington; daughter-in-law, Reba Burgess; eight grandchildren, Teresa Rowland of McLoud, Carl Burgess and wife Vanessa of Choctaw, Marla Burgess of Moore, Tim Burgess and wife Crystal of Spencer, Tom Burgess and wife Tonya of Oklahoma City, Jodie Henderson and husband David of Checotah, Steve Bush and wife Shannon of Muskogee and Dwayne Bush; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Praise Assembly of God Church, 2301 E. Highland St., Shawnee,with burial following in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City.
Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
