Former Shawnee resident Vera V. Thompson, 98, passed away Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, in Oklahoma City.
She was born Dec. 9, 1910 in Texas to James Edward and Edna (Cox) Carroll. She attended Shawnee Schools. She was a data entry clerk at Tinker Air Force Base. Vera married Herman C. Thompson on Dec. 28, 1929 in Shawnee. He preceded her in death June 29, 1986. She was a member of the Central Chruch of Christ. She had lived in Shawnee most of her life, until moving to Oklahoma City for the past 16 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and four sisters.
Survivors include daughter, Janice Howe of Piedmont; son, Herman Ken Thompson of Rockport, Texas; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Dwyane Dennis officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
