Shawnee resident Esther Yancey, 101, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, in Shawnee.
She was born Oct 2, 1908, in Beauchamp, Ark., to Jim and Ellen (Aynes) Finley.
She married Abraham Yancey on Jan.10, 1928, in Winfield, Ark..
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Harold Wiginton; two brothers and one sister.
She enjoyed gardening, crafts and quilting.
She is survived by her daughter, Nova Jeske and husband Alton of Shawnee; sisters, Ola Wieland of Shawnee, Margaret Reynolds of Mt Vernon, Mo., Luree Carpenter of Wister, Okla., and Lola Gwin of Murrieta, Calif.; brother, William Finley of Manteca, Calif.; one grandson, Donnie Wiginton and wife Carolyn; twin granddaughters, Sherry Jeske and special friend Carl Brown and Mary Jeske Spencer and husband Ralph, all of Shawnee; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Medlock of Coalgate, and Ryan Wiginton of Lake Elsinora, Calif.; five great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Service will be held Saturday, Nov.7, 2009 at 10 am, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
