SHAWNEE, Okla. —

Robert (Bob) Junior Swaggerty, 67, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He was born June 25, 1942, in Lowder, Ill., to Robert Eugene and Thelma (Lucy) Lucille Swaggerty.
He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and served his country for three years. He also fought in the Korean War.
On Nov. 1, 1961, he married Della Lair  in Carlinville., Ill. From this union came three boys, Robert (Butch) Junior Swaggerty II, Freddie Lavern Swaggerty and Arthur (Art) Thoms William Swaggerty.
He was raised in Lowder, Ill., but lived in Georgia, Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma throughout his life. He had lived in San Antonio, Texas, with his niece Carla Weaver and her family for several years, but in January 2008 he retired and went to live with his son Butch and his family in Shawnee.
Bob enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling and old cowboy movies, spending time with his family, especially his four great-grandbabies, driving the country roads and going to the local lakes in search of aluminum cans with his sidekick Jim Roll (Joy’s dad).
He was preceded in death by two of his sons, Freddie and Art; his mother and step-father, Lucy and Frank Stelle; and two of his brothers, James and Fred Swaggerty.
Survivors include his father, Robert Eugene Swaggerty, of San Antonio; brothers, Raymond Swaggerty and wife Judy, Gary Swaggerty and wife Mary and Earl Swaggerty and wife Mari, all of Springfield, Ill.; sisters, Linda Swaggerty Weaver of San Antonio, and Betty Swaggerty  Pickard of Carthage, Mo.; ex-wife, Della Jane Lair Swaggerty Blackburn of Cushing, who was still close to his heart; son, Robert J. Swaggerty II and wife Joy of Shawnee; daughter-in-law, Karla Meeks and husband Jack of Bethel; grandchildren, Robert J. Swaggerty III, Charlene Loree Swaggerty Wood and husband Travis, Kasey James Swaggerty and wife April, all of Shawnee, Mark (Sparkplug) Dwayne Ellis, Jessica Rae Swaggerty, and Leslie Marie Swaggerty, all of Bethel; great-grandchildren, Camryn Lee Wood, Andrew James Swaggerty, Dawn Marie Swaggerty, Isabella Pearl Swaggerty and three more on the way, all of Shawnee; and several nieces, nephews and his sidekick Jim Roll.
There will be viewing for the family 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 30,  at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee.
