Moore, Okla. —

Moore resident Shirley Branscum, 51, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at her home in Moore.  
She was born on Oct. 12, 1958, in Oklahoma City.  She was the youngest of nine children born to Bill and Effie Selman.   Shirley grew up in the Wayne and Purcell communities.  She attended school at both Purcell and Wayne and graduated from Wayne high school in 1976, as class Valedictorian.  
She began working for General Motors in Midwest City in 1979.  While at GM she met the love of her life, Ronnie A. Branscum. They were married on Sept. 14, 1982, in Oklahoma City.  Together Shirley and Ronnie raised two sons and lived in the Moore area.  Shirley worked at GM for 30 years before retiring with the company.  She was a member of the UAW and was a loyal and hard working employee.
 Throughout her life, she and Ronnie enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time  relaxing at Lake Eufaula on their house boat.  She was an avid O.U. Sooner and Dallas Cowboy football fan.  She enjoyed reading, working word puzzles and was a fantastic cook.  She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, a loving mother and a special sister and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Barbara Sparlin and niece, Joanna Brown.
She is survived by her husband Ronnie Branscum of the home in Moore; two sons, Rodney and Mickey Branscum both of Norman; two sisters, Mary Rhinehart and husband Frankie of Purcell and Carolyn Brown of Oklahoma City; five brothers, Ray Selman and wife Judy of Earlsboro, Terry Selman and wife Lois of Wayne, Donald Selman and wife Brenda of Tecumseh, Gary Selman and wife Jana of Purcell, Jimmy Selman and wife Janet of Wichita Falls, Texas; mother-in-law, Elsie Farris of Shawnee; sister-in-law, Sandra Fanelli and husband John of Shawnee; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6,  at Union Hill Baptist Church west of Purcell.  Officiating will be the Rev. Barry McConathy. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.  Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
