My mother often said “time changes everything.” But, decades passed before I realized what she meant. For one change, now the political scene depicts only the negative in one’s life, making constituents wonder if there is really anyone honest and trust-worthy enough of being elected. It’s time to stand up for higher morals and great integrity of legislators!

Then, there’s the Islamic Shariah law. It is being crammed down Americans throats and trying to make us feel guilty of not allowing it to be made a part of our constitutional laws. When traveling or living in foreign countries, Americans have to abide by their laws. When in Rome or any other foreign city, you have to abide by their rules and not by America’s! It’s time to stand up for not only Oklahoma’s laws but for America’s laws of the land!

The freedom of the press is being threatened by threats of shutting down some of our news media and has already removed some religious programs from being broadcast.

Are we asleep at the wheel or are we going to stand up and take a stand for our freedoms?

I encourage you to call local legislators and also Senators James Inhofe’s office in Washington: 202-224-4721; Tom Coburn: 202-224-5754; fax: 202-224-6008; and Rep. James Lankford: 405-234-9900; local 405-273-173; or e-mail: lankford.house.gov.

Now, to the local Shawnee Post Office. Recently, I visited with three women at the post office, each asking the other to wait until they returned with their mail. At different times, I’ve asked someone to wait until I returned. This is due to fear of being attacked, robbed and injured, perhaps, fatally. A recent newspaper article mentioned the only security camera didn’t capture any information from the recent attack and an option was to close the post office after hours. It’s time to speak up and time to stand up and be heard! This is our post office in Shawnee, Oklahoma, not Dallas or New York City. What is wrong with having two security cameras, one at west end for the L-shaped corner and one on east end above the main office entrance? It was suggested to use security personnel and one mentioned frequent police checks.

It’s time to stand up for our freedom! Take a stand! Speak up for our laws and rights!
