Dear Editor,
I would like to personally thank all of the citizens of this community who participated in our first parade for veterans on July 3.
Those both in the walk and the riders, politicians or otherwise, carried the day for a lot of the veterans involved. Due of course to weather turning at the last minute, we could not complete the flag raising portion. Those who were on their porches and balconies along the parade route are also to be thanked and every one who hung a flag or bunting can be considered patriotically proud. Again, thank all of you.
About the memorial,  there are a lot of pavers there, but at this point we have found few, very few errors considering the number. We ask that if there is a problem to let us know and give us a little time to correct them if they are our mistake. We need about 1,200 more to finish the inner circle.
Considering again that in the building of this memorial, and the raising of funds to get this far, we have had most of our success from the grunt, or little man, purchasing a small or middle size paver, whatever he or she could afford to honor a loved one. You do not need to be a veteran to put a paver in, but we will not honor advertising in general. It is not necessary that you reside in Oklahoma or Pott County. Thus far none of the larger companies in the area have contributed to this memorial, but I am sure that some will step up shortly so we can finish this portion. Please remember, this is a tax deductible site.
There has been a lot of volunteer work here nad there on this project and we need especially thank all of those involved, especially the DAV, the VFW Auxilary ladies and the American Legion, because without volunteers much would never get done.
Again, thanks to all who participated in one form or another, and hopefully there will be a great turnout, not only for the flag raising ceremony today but for the next Veteran’s Parade.
