I am recently known as the individual that set off the explosion on Saturday, Aug. 7, at approximately 8:50 p.m. I would like to apologize and clarify a few discrepancies and make a future promise to the public.
I would like to begin by stating that I am sorry for upsetting a number of people. Setting off such a large target was not the original plan. We intended on shooting many small ones but due to some time delays, we were unable to do so. According to the use of binary explosive laws, we could not legally leave the mixed contents unattended; therefore, we had to destroy them.
These binary explosives are a two-part mixture. The combination of these two parts constitutes them being legal because they cannot be set off by fuse or fire. Initiation of the explosives can only be caused by a high powered rifle that is used properly and legally. The purpose of the explosive is for marksmanship improvement. An example of this would be for long range shooters that can not see a bullet hole from far away. By simply placing this target that formulates into a legal binary explosive behind the target, one receives confirmation of the hit.
In my opinion, use of these explosives should not be taken lightly. One should not handle these explosives without knowledge of how they work. I have personally experienced eight years of experience with these explosives as I am a distributer and it is a hobby of mine. I would like to express my sincere apology to all medical, fire and law enforcement personnel that responded. Had there been anything illegal going on, their impeccable response time would have prevented any further wrong doings.
In the future, I promise to take precautions to tone down the offset of explosions that will occur on my property in order to help ease people’s minds. As a courtesy to all emergency personnel and related agencies, I will notify the appropriate authorities prior to any demonstration. Also, as a courtesy for these agencies, we will be adding a section to the labels suggesting to simply call the local authorities letting them know what is about to take place.
