Other product prices aren’t dropping with fuel prices
I’m just wondering why the products that went up with the gasoline prices, the fuel prices, haven’t came down now that the fuel prices have dropped. For instance, the freight has gone out of sight; the products in the stores went up 30 percent. They all said it was because of the prices of the fuel. Freight — why hasn’t the freight come down now that the fuel prices have come down? Anyone else wondering about this?
Cost for Vet Memorial still unsupported by local vets
In reference to the veteran who called in about having to pay to have our names on a memorial: I am a veteran of 20 years service, and I completely agree with him. It’s a total lack of humbleness when we have to pay to be recognized.
Shawnee needs to spend funds more efficiently
I just wanted to say I think it’s stupid for the city of Shawnee to keep spending money sending people to Nikaho, Japan, especially when we have critical water needs here. The main intake valve at Shawnee’s Twin Lakes No. 2 is busted and has been for years now. The money used for this Japanese junket could and should be put toward fixing broken water pipes and valves here in Shawnee.
Some still weary about SSN at court house
You know, I called some time ago about this mess at the courthouse with our Social Security numbers being online but my comments were not published. Perhaps this won’t be either, but we’re all still online. Nothing has been done.
National Prayer Day today
Thank you very, very much for Tri-County. I would just like to say that May 7 is National Prayer Day and let us all pray for a better world.
SEFD not necessary for city of Shawnee
In answer to Recession Yes and No, I think we could do without the Shawnee Economic Development Foundation. Look at all the money we would save. And that man getting $107,000 plus benefits? Gosh, that money could go to something the city could really use. People could do their own development if they have to. And if we’re short of the money, we need to cut where we can. And that, we can cut out in my opinion.
Whitaker Street pot hole causes problems
We citizens who live on Whitaker Street between Draper and Center have called about a big pot hole in the middle of the street. We can hear cars hitting the hole. Someone is going to have a wreck there. People taking their children to school are risking their child’s life and the street department will be at fault. I pray they will fix it. I have called twice about it.
