Storm drain needs cleaning out
Why can’t they clean the storm drains out at least every two months? They came out, cut the grass around it, and left it and the trash there.
Auto inspection needs to return
I think that inspection of automobiles should return to the state of Oklahoma. That way, you’d have to show proof of insurance and if you’ve ever driven around at night here, you can see cars with one headlight, no taillight or a broken light or no brake light or no turn signals.
I’d be willing to pay a pretty good sum to get my car inspected. I think it should be returned.
Community should help raise funds
In regard to the veterans wall and where veterans have to pay for it, as a community, we need to come together and have fundraisers.
Different businesses would be a good idea to put up jars where we can put change in. But I think if, as a community, we come together and have fundraisers for this we should be able to raise funds for this.
SSN whining not necessary
In reference to all the people whining about the Social Security numbers online.
If people weren’t whining when they were putting their Social Security numbers on the documents to the oil companies and taking their checks to the bank to cash them, then my suggestion is to quit whining and find a better way to spend the money in Shawnee than online where those records are public.
Buying a brick suppors memorial
In reference to the young man who has 20 years military service and is complaining about putting money in to the memorial downtown: that’s truly his prerogative.
It’s not required that you be a veteran to buy a brick in this. This is just to support the memorial itself.
So I think that he needs to reevaluate his thoughts on it.
Congrats to student, want to know more
Congratulations to Grove School fourth-grader Cierra Wilson who recently received commendation from Gov. Henry for her prize-winning invention.
It was a great picture in the paper, but we’d like to know what she invented.
Excitement over coming memorial
In regard to the veteran’s memorial that’s being built: I’m so excited that this is coming. My uncle was in World War II and I lost him back in the 80s from a heart attack.
And I’ve always wanted to be able to do something for him and now I’ve bought a paver to honor him.
And my husband was in the Vietnam era and so I’ve also purchased a paver to honor him; so I’m really glad this is coming and that the wall is coming in August.
It’s going to be quite a memorial from other organizations during that time. And I just think it’s wonderful that this is all happening.
