Thank you for real estate transactions
I want to say thank you for printing the real estate transactions in the county in the paper last Sunday. I appreciate that very much. Thank you. God Bless.

Still great people in this world

There are still great people in this world. One of the finest I know is Judge Glenn Dale Carter. He is a wonderful Christian, dedicated professional, is kind, and has a heart as big as Texas. He’s thoughtful. He helped a World War II veteran, 101 years old in November 2009. He brought a wonderful card and pecan pie to a World War II Veteran on his 89th birthday. I have traveled all across the USA and nearly all over the world and never met a better man and Christian than Judge Carter. Thanks a million. Cecil E. Johnston.

Thank yous for rodeo photos by Ed Blochowiak

Once again Ed Blochowiak’s rodeo shots are unbelievable. Give that man a raise!

We have enjoyed so much those pictures of the rodeo. Those were wonderful pictures. And also the person who called in about Tecumseh utilities, making it fair for people. They’ll never be fair until pigs fly; they’ll always be charging us double.

Compliments to Ed. I love your rodeo pictures. Thanks for providing us with them, your talent, for another year.

I just want to compliment Ed Blochowiak for the fantastic photographs he took of the rodeo action. It’s almost unbelievable how accurate and timely, and I just can’t say enough good about it. I don’t know much about them but they are wonderful and what I’m wanting to know is would he have any of these for sale or is he allowed to sell any of these, because some of these would make fantastic wall hangings. Absolutely, great.

Thank you for letter to the editor

I want to say thank you to Ray Robinson for the letter he wrote to the editor. He saved me from having to write one.

Thank you for story on Brackeen Motors

I would like to comment on the article in the paper about the Brackeens. We have known Bob Brackeen for years and years and years, when he was down there on South Beard. We had bought several cars from him. I cannot think of any family in Shawnee that could be any nicer and more honest than Bob Brackeen and his business. Just want you to know that I appreciate this article and appreciate the Shawnee News-Star for letting things like this come out in the paper to open our eyes up about what we’re going through. I sure do thank you.

Grateful for hospitable neighbors
Shawnee is truly a good place to be. This morning, my battery died in a friend’s front yard and I called a tire and battery service to rescue me, but before they came three of her neighbors came to offer help. And then, when Fred’s serviceman came, we got prompt, very courteous help, got the new battery in. But it just left me with such a nice, warm feeling for the people of Shawnee and how neighbors come out to help neighbors.

Monitoring water usage important
Everyone is reminded to monitor the use of water on yards during August, traditionally a hot month, so that none is allowed to run down the street. I have decided to let my yard turn naturally brown in an effort to conserve water. Could that make brown the new green?
