Editor’s Note: We are well aware of the mistake we made on Page 10A in the Friday, Feb.13 issue of the paper. The photograph of President Obama and the soldier saluting was our mistake.

I want to congratulate Russell Frantz for being appointed the new police chief. He’s in the best interest for Shawnee and I hope we support him for all that he deserves.

The picture in Friday’s paper of Barack Obama has the soldiers saluting with their left hand and their medals are on the wrong side. Is this Obama’s new way of leaning to the left or did you reverse the picture?

On Page 10, Friday the 13th, the picture in the paper shows Obama and two Air Force military personnel saluting left-handed. Have things changed that much?

On Page 10, the picture has been reversed because I’m sure military personnel would never, ever salute with a left hand. It’s a disgrace to the flag and the nation.

Picture reversed. The Associated Press and The Shawnee News- Star need to improve their editing. On page 10A, we see Obama and two military personnel saluting with their left hands. Is everything we’re doing moving to the left?

Scoopie’s response to all of the above: Don’t blame the President or the soldiers. The News-Star reversed the photograph and we apologize. Also, The Associated Press is not to blame either.

In response to Howard Hall’s comment about women and pay. It’s a known fact that women have made less money than men and do just as well or better jobs than men. It is time women get paid what a man does for the same equal job that a man does.

I was just wondering why all week, all we’ve had is Love stories on the front page of the paper and there’s been tornadoes in Oklahoma City and Lone Grove. The love stories should have been on a different page and the news on the front. I think you’re slipping.

I just wanted to thank you for the love stories. With all the disaster from storms and the terrible economy mess, it was so wonderful to read these and loose one’s self in wonderful memories for a few minutes at least. I look forward to reading more each day. Thank you so much.

Since the paper is doing away with a lot of things they’ve done in the past, are they going to reduce the rates? They should.

I’m sure I’m not the only on who enjoyed with tear-filled eyes the eloquent stories from the Ramsey family. May their beloved daddy’s Valentine legacy carry on for generations to come.
