The Shawnee City Council needs to do something about this sorry trash service in Shawnee. This is the second week in a row that the yard waste crew that is supposed to come on Wednesday to the Brookhaven addition has not come and picked up our yard waste. It is 5:01 p.m. right now and we’ve waited all day long for yard waste pickup and it hasn’t come by yet — and I doubt it will at this late hour. We need some help City Hall. Get those trash people in gear. Thank you.
I want to weigh in on the article that was in Wednesday’s paper about Max. I’m not criticizing the officer — I don’t know the circumstances of the incident — but from the article it seems this may be a miscarriage of justice and I pray the judge makes the right decision for this family and Max.
I just wonder what’s gone on in Shawnee. We lost the best police chief we ever had now we lose our treasurer. I wonder what’s going on in City Hall. I think they should be checked out.
I think aggressive dogs should be put down. To blame victims and say that they shouldn’t be so afraid is like the human bully blaming his victim, as Marilyn Bradford was writing about in her article.
I was calling in reference to the Veterans Memorial. My father served in World War II and I was a Vietnam air vet from 1965 to 1968. And I have a son that just served in Iraq. I think it’s terrible that vets have to pay to have their name inscribed on the memorial, and I think its about $75 a piece. And I think the memorial should be funded by the people of the community and not veterans paying for the thing themselves. The name is Jim.
I think its great that Kickapoo from MacArthur down to the Spur is going to get fixed. My question is this: Why isn’t Kickapoo from the Spur down to Farrall Street going to get widened and fixed? Also, what about that small section of Beard Street from Farrall down to the bridge? Both of those projects need to be done for the future of Shawnee. We’ve waited too long for too little. I say get that regional park started or get out of office. Thank you.
I think Shawnee officials over the past two decades have used poor judgment about that water line from the lake to the treatment plant. The money should have been allocated each year and a little bit toward the overall project done. For instance, one year they could’ve bought and paid for pipe. A steady stream of work toward a project eventually would’ve gotten it done rather than where we are now, which is needing $30 million to replace the water line. Thank you.
