Thanks for sponsoring Project Canine, helping puppies
I just wanted to call and thank the Shawnee News-Star for sponsoring Project Canine. These puppies, these dogs, they needed homes and they needed them now. I think people were a little mean spirited who were objecting to this. I wasn’t able to adopt a dog but I did give some money to help buy food and I just really thank the Tri-County Humane Society. I didn’t know that we had one and I’m just so glad we have one. God bless you.
Why is Obama taking Social Security from senior citizens?
I noticed you’re not in the paper everyday, but I wish you would be so you could explain to me why President Obama is taking our Social Security increase for something else. Doesn’t he know we senior citizens need what we’ve got? He could take the money from somewhere else. What’s he trying to do, get rid of everybody?
Comments about Obama in paper are personal attacks
I have to agree with this person who called in about the negative President Obama comments. That’s all I see in the opinion page every day is personal attacks on our president, which you plainly state that you don’t allow personal attacks. But you do, you allow them on our president every day. Like today, Mr. Hall has a letter to the editor; he’s bashing our president. That is a personal attack. I really hate to see it but every day there’s somebody, a letter to the editor, on the opinion page, that’s bashing our president.
Pay it forward instead of complaining about Obama
I would just like to say, come on people. President Obama does not care one way or another whether people are speaking positive or negative about him. He will never see this newspaper. And frankly, I’m tired of reading about all the politicians and what they’re doing and how much people think that they’re doing great and then not doing good. So my suggestion is to pick … somebody and say something nice to them, something positive. Call in and say what a wonderful job they’re doing and how much you care about them and how much you love them. Pay it forward people … Our world needs a little bit of sunshine.
Why is ceiling failing after building sports center?
I may be missing something but my question is, “Did we or did we not just pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for some land on to which to build a sports center and here our high school’s ceilings and roofs are caving in on the kids?” And I understand from several seniors that there may even be a mold issue up there at the school. I don’t understand this. Can someone please shed some light on the subject?
