Water company won’t give extension
I’m calling about my water bill. I went to go make a payment and they told me I got a cutoff notice for Oct. 13 and I told them I don’t get paid until the 14th. They wouldn’t give me a one-day extension. They said they’d go ahead and cut my water off and charge me an extra $50 to turn it back on. I think it’s downright ornery and I’m angry at these people. What can we do about this? I hope you print this.
Daughter told to clean up property
My daughter received a letter from the city of Shawnee stating what was going to happen if she didn’t get the place cleaned up. We got the lawn mowed but the old abandoned items in the alley belong to the neighbor across the alley on North Tucker, which he moved from his curb to her alley on North Pennsylvania. I moved it back to his side by myself because my daughter is physically unable to help and I’m 84 years old. Today, I’m working on the alley trying to comply; it may take me more than 10 days though.
DUI inmates already fill up state jails
My 30 seconds won’t get it, but if you want to start running for office, then you might as well start with cell phones, potato chips, radios and other things and leave the driving under the influences alone. Our penitentiaries are full of people with DUIs and our state tax dollars are paying for their families and them and that is ridiculous.
Shawnee full of people willing to help
Just had to say, there’s a lot of good people in Shawnee. I’m elderly, walk on a cane, was taking trash out for the annual pick-up. And two people come to help me — one a young lady and the other a gentleman who backed his pickup up and carried my box out to the curb. Thank you. I’m glad I live here.
Questioning traffic counter location
I’d just like to know why they put the traffic counter on Walker Road out here by the lake since the bridge is out on one end and only half the traffic that goes through is counted. Seems like a waste of time and money. They could’ve used the money to repair the bridge or to repair the road.
