Two veterans parks?
Scoopie, what is going to become of the veterans memorial behind Shawnee High School when, and if, the new veterans memorial at Woodland Park is ever built? Why couldn’t that memorial be moved down to Woodland Park where more people could visit it? It doesn’t make sense to have two veterans parks. I think the city ought to at least pledge some benches or something to the memorial at Woodland Park. It would be nice.
Bad chipper
I’m wondering if Tecumseh will ever get all the ice storm brush taken care of. We were to have it at our curbs and they would be finished with clean up by the end of January. Here it is almost May. They tell us they will get to it, it’s just the chipper keeps breaking down. Of course the area where the city fathers live has all been taken care of, but the east and north sides of town have brush piles all over. And now the grass and weeds are coming up, through the brush, making nice nests for skunks and rabbits and snakes. Why can’t they rent a chipper if theirs is broken? Or haul the brush to a central location to be chipped up later?
Postage increase?
Quite some time ago, there was some mention of an increase in postage rates. Could you please print the date that the increase is effective?
Henry/Obama
I agree with the two people who wrote in Tri-County speaks in Wednesday’s paper about Gov. Henry. I agree with them, if I lived in Shawnee I, too, would be ashamed. If he didn’t want to support Sen. Clinton, then he should have remained silent. After all she carried the state and I thought the delegates were supposed to vote the way the state votes.
Brad Henry won’t win another election in Oklahoma, for any office, now that he endorsed Obama. Along with his opposition to tort reform, and his pro-abortion views, he is a disappointment. Kris Steele is our next state leader.
I just wanted to say that I’m proud of Brad Henry, for standing up for what he believes and who he votes for. And, I just wanted the readers to know that not everyone in Pottawatomie County voted for Hillary Clinton.
I need to comment on Brad Henry and David Boren. Thank God for them supporting Obama. Somebody needs to try to fix this political system. They might help up out.
