Who needs an IQ?
What does having a high IQ have to do with anything? Einstein couldn’t tie his shoes, Edison forgot to eat and he had a high IQ. George Bush was flying fighter aircraft and he must be pretty sharp having worked on them for 50 years.
Trash complaint
This is a comment to complain about Allied Waste. I was curious why the trash pickup for Wednesday, the outdoor trash, was not picked up. I called several times and they told me it would be picked up Thursday. It wasn’t, (they said) it would be picked up Friday and it wasn’t. I don’t understand why the driver took the time to drive down the street, stop, look at the trash and then proceed on his way. It seems like it would be a waste of human resources and a waste of fuel. I don’t understand why Allied Waste likes to get so many complaints. It gives the city of Shawnee a bad reputation, which, it seems, is already on its way. I think the manager of Allied Waste would do something about this.
Two questions
I would like to hear what the candidates for Shawnee mayor and the city commission think on the following two items. First, Shawnee has been in need of a new water tower for years. It always gets cut from the budget. Second, what are they going to do about the broken water intake valve in lake No. 2? They keep getting put off year after year. Instead of sending former city manager Jim Collard, that money could have and should have been used toward fixing our broken water system.
Awaiting the call
I want to answer the caller who loves George Bush along with the other 27 percent of the country. I guess he loves the war, Enron, the housing crisis, $4-a-gallon gas, which Bush and Cheney are solely responsible for. And I’ll await his call because I’ll keep calling.
Misunderstanding?
Did I misunderstand the commissioner meeting? I thought they voted not to pave Airport Drive. I wish someone would let me know if they did vote on that because I really and truly thought they voted against doing that at this time. But then again I guess they’ll do whatever they want to do, right?
