I have been reading the articles on your website and in my local newspaper concerning Project K-9 sponsored by your organization and would say that the effort expanded by your employees is commendable and their efforts insured that this pet adoption fair was a total success.
According to my newspaper some have called this effort “a black eye for animal rescue in this state, because it was not done responsibly” but I think it was an effort of love by Alan and Cara Baxter to insure the safety and welfare of these wonderful little guys and gals.
I came with the intention of only assisting if I could and when Mr. Baxter arrived at approximately 11:30 on that Thursday at your office I saw strangers coming together and doing what is right. I was so touched that I realized that I could not leave without helping one of these wonderful dogs and ended up adopting a little beagle who now goes by the name Harry.
Right from your office I drove to the vet clinic. Immediately the staff gave Harry a bath and some medication for fleas and ear mites. In addition, he received a complete physical, his shots, medication and some tests. As soon as he is medically cleared he will be neutered and have a thorough dental cleaning.
Right now Harry is sleeping and enjoying a new home with another dog and two cats and they really are getting along wonderfully. Even though they estimated Harry to be approximately eight years old and he has some medical issues we look forward to having him for many years as a part of our family.
Once again my sincerest thank you for the heroic efforts of the Baxter’s, your staff and all the people who stepped up to make a difference in the lives of these wonderful dogs.
