Extreme gardener Steve Connolly says his orange giant could weigh as much as 1,800 pounds. If it’s anywhere near that, it could break the world record.

A crew from Clover Family Farm in Easton, Mass., used a forklift and straps to gently lift the pumpkin onto a padded wooden pallet then onto a trailer Friday, Oct. 10, 2008. It was driven ever so cautiously 40 miles to Frerich’s Farm in Warren R.I. for the Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Growers organization weigh-ins.
