NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — —

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford was among 35 players named Monday to the watch list for the Walter Camp Award, which is given annually to the top player in college football.
Bradford, who last season led the nation in quarterback ratings, has also been named to the watch lists for the Maxwell and O’Brien awards.
He joins five other Big 12 players in being named to the Camp watch list: Texas Tech receiver Michael Crabtree, Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel, Nebraska running back Marlon Lucky and Texas quarterback Colt McCoy.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation will select 15 semifinalists in November and a winner will be announced at the college football awards show in December.

Injuries hitting Cardinals
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Free safety Antrel Rolle and tight end Ben Patrick will miss Saturday’s game at Oakland because of high ankle sprains, Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said Monday.
Rolle was initially diagnosed early last week with a mild sprain, but an MRI later in the week confirmed the injury was more severe.
Patrick hurt his ankle during Saturday’s 27-17 win at Kansas City. The second-year player out of Delaware had one catch for 6 yards.
All Pro defensive end Darnell Dockett missed the Kansas City game with a strained pectoral muscle.

Orioles shake up rotation
BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles shook up their rotation Monday, sending slumping starters Garrett Olson and Dennis Sarfate to the bullpen.
Olson lasted only 1 1-3 innings in Sunday’s 16-8 victory over the Detroit Tigers, allowing four hits and five runs. Olson’s eight victories are tied for second-most on the Baltimore staff, but the rookie left-hander’s 6.38 ERA was the highest among the starters.
“I think I had to do something to be fair to the team and to be fair to Olson,” manager Dave Trembley said. “Olson needs to get some success and be put in a situation that’s not as stressful and pressure-packed as it would appear it’s been for him his last three starts.”

Back pain sidelines Drew
BALTIMORE (AP) — Boston Red Sox right fielder J.D. Drew was out of the lineup Monday night against the Baltimore Orioles because of lingering soreness in his lower back.
Drew is hitting .280 with 19 home runs and 64 RBIs, but has only six hits in his last 34 at-bats over 12 games. He left Sunday’s game against Toronto after experiencing tightness in his lower back.
“Hopefully, we got him out soon enough before it could completely lock up,” Boston manager Terry Francona said.
Jacoby Ellsbury started in right field against Baltimore and Coco Crisp was in center.
Drew was a first-time All-Star this season and was selected MVP of the July 15 game at Yankee Stadium after hitting a two-run homer that tied the score in the seventh inning.

Seahawks QB recovered
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Pro Bowl quarterback Matt Hasselbeck fully participated in a practice for the first time since his back stiffened 10 days ago and said he will play in the Seahawks’ next preseason game Aug. 25 at San Diego.
“It is fine,” Hasselbeck said Monday, two days after he watched No. 3 quarterback Charlie Frye play all of Seattle’s preseason win over Chicago. “If I felt stiff, it’s because I was standing around too much the last couple days.”
Hasselbeck occasionally stretched and rubbed his back in between plays during practice, on the team’s first full day at its new $60 million lakeside facility.

Mikalauskas out, Soroye back at University of Virginia
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Laurynas Mikalauskas, one of the more popular players at the University of Virginia, was dismissed from the team by coach Dave Leitao on Monday, while he announced that Tunji Soroye will return next season.
Leitao said that Mikalauskas, a 6-foot-8 native of Lithuania, is no longer a member of the team because he has not lived up to the standards set by the program. Leitao said he will not elaborate.

Schilling to retire?
BOSTON (AP) — Curt Schilling says he’s leaning “very heavily” toward retirement and is waiting until spring training approaches to see if he wants to try to pitch again.
The Boston Red Sox right-hander, who underwent season-ending shoulder surgery on June 23, said in his most recent blog entry that his shoulder “is getting better fast” and “I’ve still got a rather lengthy amount of time before I decide anything.”
