The Golden Hearts senior group of Fairview Baptist Church enjoyed a chuckwagon theme for its May meeting and a meal of brisket, roast beef, beans, salad and cobbler.
Special guest was Dr. Bill Mitchell and his wife, Mae. Mitchell is the interim pastor at First Baptist Church in Sparks. He gave a musical presentation, playing the guitar and singing such old-time favorites as “I’ll Fly Away,” “Just a Closer Walk With Thee,” “When We All Get to Heaven” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” as well as one original song.
A letter from missionaries Deanna and Duane Hunt was read to the group. Golden Hearts members collect eyeglasses, ties and scarves for the missionaries to give away.
Golden Hearts meet the first Friday of the month at 11 a.m. For more information, call 273-8790 or 275-5988. The next meeting is June 6.
