Dr. Bobby Kelly, associate professor of religion at Oklahoma Baptist University, will be the guest speaker at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Tecumseh’s First Baptist Church, 301 S. Broadway.
According to the Barna Group, an estimated 75 million adults (42 percent) said that reading the Bible is very important to them, but, according to Gallup, less than 50 percent of Americans can name the first book of the Bible.
Among Bible readers, the average amount of time spent reading the Bible is less than seven minutes a day. Yet, the average person spends almost five hours a day watching TV, according to the Communications Industry Forecast & Report.
This month, Tecumseh’s First Baptist Church will begin walking through the 90-Day Bible Reading Challenge. By reading 12 pages a day, people can complete the Bible in 90 days.
Kelly will launch the Bible-reading emphasis with his sermon.
