SHAWNEE, Okla. —

Financial Peace University, a 13-week program that helps families change their financial future, will be offered beginning Monday at Northridge Church of Christ in Shawnee.
The FPU class begins at 6:30 p.m. at Northridge, 1001 E. MacArthur. For more information or to register, contact Robert Galloway at (405) 464-3373 or robt.gallowayjr@yahoo.com.
FPU, founded by Dave Ramsey in 1994, teaches families and individuals how to handle their money through common-sense principles and small-group accountability. As they work on a “Total Money Makeover,” the average family pays off $5,300 in debt, saves $2,700 in the first 91 days after beginning FPU, and is completely out of debt, except for the mortgage, in 18 to 24 months.
In 1997, FPU was made available on video across the country, and there are thousands of classes offered around the nation today. Ramsey is featured on the videos in an approach that is entertaining. After each lesson, participants help each other plan budgets, discuss successes and temptations and support each other in their journey to beat debt and building wealth.
Topics covered include saving for emergencies, budgeting, relationship and money issues, buying big bargains, understanding investments, retirement and college planning and more.
