SHAWNEE, Okla. —

Musicians from Wesley United Methodist Church, Liberty Baptist and Immanuel Baptist will combine talents Sunday to bring spirited bluegrass gospel music to the 10:30 a.m. worship service at Wesley.
The Liberty Creek Band plays hymns with a distinctive acoustical style, with several instruments and vocalists. Band members Sunday will be Burky Curtis, banjo; Dean Hudlow, harmonica; Delmar Farnham, mandolin and vocal; Jeannie Haggard, fiddle; Clayton Lewis, bass; Nonie Dollins, guitar and vocal; Mike Higgins, guitar; and additional vocalists April Dawkins and Norm Wagoner.
The group regularly plays at Liberty Baptist Sunday evening sing-along events and wherever invited to perform. Dean Hudlow plays harmonica in Branson, Mo., and has recorded CDs that he makes available at Christmas.
Joel Deichman, music director, will stand in for Marvin Hudson, pastor. The title of Deichman’s message will be “Looking for Daniels,” based on Daniel 6:16. He will share favorite concepts from that book of the Bible and the scripture telling of Daniel being cast into the den of lions.
Wesley UMC is at 302 E. Independence. The nursery opens at 9 a.m., as well as coffee and doughnuts in the fellowship hall. Sunday classes for all ages begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by praise and worship in the sanctuary. Everyone is invited to enjoy the Sunday morning experience, and also Sunday evening community outreach experiences going out from the church at 4 p.m., led by the Rev. Kris Steele. Dinner at 6 p.m. at the church provides times to share outreach experiences with friends. There is a Sunday evening nursery and an outreach activity for children and young adults each Sunday through July.
