SHAWNEE, Okla. —

Jack Willis, author of “Saving Jack,” an autobiographical account of his struggle with breast cancer, will speak during the 6 p.m. service Sunday at University Baptist Church.
While there is no shortage of books devoted to helping women with breast cancer, Willis is one of the first to address the apprenhensions faced by men who contract the disease.
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, Willis said he learned a number of lessons during his treatment. He said he learned that life is short, to thank God every day, to count his blessings, and to always tell his wife, Becky, that he loves her.
Writing is nothing new to Willis. He worked at the Muskogee Daily Phoenix for 19 years, but he had never created anything longer than a 60-inch newspaper article. Approaching the project one chapter at a time, Willis published “Saving Jack” in March to give hope to anyone whose family has been devastated by the diagnosis of cancer.
Visitors are welcome to attend the service, which will be held in the fellowship hall of the church.
For more information, call the church office at 275-1990.
