- A memorial highway dedication ceremony was held Friday in Asher to unveil signs to honor and remember two Pottawatomie County sheriff?s deputies killed in the line of duty nearly one year ago. Reserve Deputies Tim Lowry and Mike Roberts, who were traveling together in a patrol car while serving warrants, died Sept. 30, 2011, in a traffic accident along SH 39 in south Pottawatomie County. A dedication ceremony at Asher city hall included the families of both deputies receiving replica signs to keep while Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews installed the larger roadway signs on SH 39. Afterward, the families, along with sheriff's deputies and others, visited one of the signs along SH 39, just east of the U.S. 177 intersection.
