- New firefighter recruit training
- Seven new firefighters are on the job at the Shawnee Fire Department, where they began a two-week training program last week. The training includes strength training and timed events involving firefighting equipment. SFD Training Officer David Underwood said the new recruits all have prior firefighting experience but will be training the first two weeks on the job before being assigned to a shift.
