No complaint here: Thanks, Tecumseh faculty and staff
I read about so many complaints that it makes me want to say thank you to all Tecumseh High School faculty and the staff for all you do. Not for my kids, but for others also.
Accept the pay for the job and give the chief a break
It never ceases that the police union is giving the chief a hard time. The latest episode was more pay for detectives. Didn’t they just get a 7 percent raise? That is an exceptional raise and when you accept a position you know what it calls for and what your job is.
Never under estimate the power of a Shawnee woman
I just wanted to give great big thanks once again to the sweetest little lady who helped me jump start my car in the Kmart parking lot. We couldn’t get a man to help us. She stepped up and helped me get my car started. There’s some good women in this town.
Horses are beautiful, enjoyed by many around town
I would just like to say that my husband and I really enjoy the horses about town, and my little great-granddaughter does, too. She just thinks they’re beautiful. I think someone did a lot of hard work, and I think they’re very beautiful.
Ridiculous
How ridiculous is it that we ask our men and women at the age of 18 to die for our country, register to vote and be legal in every other aspect of life other than the choice to consume alcohol?
About the horses
About our beautiful horses: I guess we need a sign on each saying, “Bought With Private Funds For the Beautification of Shawnee.” But, oh, I forgot, they can’t seem to read that printed over and over again in the News-Star. Get a life.
Live and let live so others don’t have to watch them die
What kind of people leave helpless animals out in the country to die? These people are trash and are unfit to live. Why God would let this kind of trash live is hard to believe. I guess they are not even fit to die.
To the person who is embarrassed by the horses in Shawnee, I have an idea. Get a life-size statue of yourself, made of plastic, place it downtown with the price on it, and we’ll see how much you’re worth. Businesses are buying these horses, not the city. Keep it up. Good luck, Shawnee.
I want to thank the honest person who found my purse in the Wal-Mart basket outside and turned it in. Thank you so much. There are honest people still around today.
Sad for pets
Why do parents allow children to have pets until the kids get tired of them and let them loose around town? Something needs to be done.
‘Real’ reason?
Can anybody figure out the “real” reason that college presidents want to lower the drinking age from 21 to 18?
Road needs paint
I was calling about Airport Road. They need to finish the painting on it because it is hard to stay in the right lane. Sure needs to be finished.
No dress code
I can’t believe someone would complain about what someone was wearing while trying to save a child’s life. Would you want them to take time to dress up first? I think not.
Six hundred dollars a year to go to the YMCA for seniors — that’s a little out of line.
Scoopie’s response: It’s $592 for a senior couple and $378 for a single senior.
Who cares what they were wearing!
Are you kidding? The firefighters on the front page saved a child. Who cares what they were wearing?
More oil, less air
We need to drill more oil. That's the answer. T. Boone Pickens, what if we run out of wind? Ever thought of that?
Good trash service
This in response to “grateful for trash service.” The person does have good trash service. If ours sees you pulling your polycart to the street or it’s not there in time for him, you can pull your polycart down the street and they will continue to drive off watching you.
Trying to compete?
I agree with the caller about the prices at the YMCA. I thought this was supposed to be a community place for everybody to go, but my understanding is that they’re trying to compete with OBU’s new sports building. That’s just not right. This YMCA is supposed to be for everybody. And the fact that they don’t have day passes looks to me like they’ll be losing money.
This is about the new Shawnee YMCA on Saratoga, and it’s “country club” atmosphere. High-income families can afford membership and low-income families may get in free. But what about the middle class people? The rate has continued to rise and now there are no day passes. This is not for the middle class.
Where’s the bill?
I thought Shane Jett was going to sponsor a bill that all people regardless of political affiliation could vote in city and county elections. When everyone is Democrat, the Republicans don’t get a chance to vote. That is probably why no one showed up at the polls this past election.
I just want to say something to the person who made the comments on the cheaply made horses in Shawnee. Those were not funded by Shawnee. They were funded by individuals who paid a price for them. I understand we need water, but the caller needs to understand the horses are beautiful and funded by individuals.
