Sad for pets
Why do parents allow children to have pets until the kids get tired of them and let them loose around town? Something needs to be done.

‘Real’ reason?
Can anybody figure out the “real” reason that college presidents want to lower the drinking age from 21 to 18?

‘Only’ reason
Hope Petition? What about all the money for education from the lottery? The only reason I play the lottery is for the kids; oh, and the chance of winning millions and getting away from this small-minded town.

Recycling tips
Please put your newspapers inside the recycle bins by Homeland and not on the ground. They might quit picking up our stuff if it doesn’t stop. Please take your cardboard to the Faith 7 people.

Thank you to the Shawnee News-Star for printing Howard Hall’s letters. His comments are always right on.
Suggestion
Concerning the beautification of Shawnee: I suggest Mayor Mills sell some of his “award-winning” plastic painted stallions and use that money to clean up several city blocks that looks more like a city dump.

Lame duck
News flash! Our mayor was able to cram two lame-duck sessions into four years.

Embarrassment
You say leave the horses alone. Well it’s sure hard to with the embarrassment when visitors pull into town and we are advertising that we are a one-horse town.

Still not fixed
Instead of complaining, people should congratulate and be motivated. My father was so motivated he went to city hall four times just to get a sinkhole fixed and it’s still not fixed.
