SHAWNEE, Okla. —
This is about the new Shawnee YMCA on Saratoga, and it’s “country club” atmosphere. High-income families can afford membership and low-income families may get in free. But what about the middle class people? The rate has continued to rise and now there are no day passes. This is not for the middle class.
I pay the city for water, sewer and garbage service, but I am forced to rely on the sheriff’s department for law enforcement needs. I have been told I’m not in the police department’s jurisdiction. This is somewhat confusing to me. I can’t vote for city officials, yet they determine what I pay for these utilities.
