SHAWNEE, Okla. —

Never under estimate the power of a Shawnee woman
I just wanted to give great big thanks once again to the sweetest little lady who helped me jump start my car in the Kmart parking lot. We couldn’t get a man to help us. She stepped up and helped me get my car started. There’s some good women in this town.

Election season reaps benefits
Isn’t it wonderful what election time is doing for our city’s infrastructure — particularly our long-neglected city streets? Elections are for cleaning house and not for moving election officials off their duffs to do what should have been done long ago. Stand by, folks, and watch the excuses come rolling in.

Travel ok for few, but not many?
Talk about ridicuous. Shawnee’s school board is forced to cut bus routes, which adversely impacts hundreds of its students, but it’s all right for the football team to take several buses to McAlester for a scrimmage. Where are the priorities and why was this allowed to happen?
