The Shawnee Wolves dug an early hole that proved too much to overcome Monday night at the Shawnee High School Performaing Arts and Athletic Center as the Harrah Panthers spoiled homecoming to the tune of 59-50.
Plagued by poor shooting and turnovers, the Wolves scored just six points in the opening quarter and topped that mark, barely, in the second quarter by scoring eight to go into the intermission trailing 27-14.
Senior Taylor Langley scored five points and Grant Barrick added four in the first half for the Wolves.
The Harrah Lady Panthers’ first-half pressure defense and constant double-teaming of Shawnee’s Kelsee Grovey proved too much for the Lady Wolves as they completed the homecoming road sweep 51-35 Monday night at the Shawnee High School Performing Arts and Athletic Center.
Shawnee had little answers for the Class 4A second-ranked Lady Panthers. Harrah’s Chelsea Robinson scored a game-high 25 points.
McLoud’s varsity wrestlers earned third place as a team, behind Sallisaw and Fort Gibson, at the Maverick Conference Tournament Saturday.

As usual, the Bethel Lady Wildcats (ranked third in 3A) and Dale Lady Pirates (No. 1 in 2A) went toe to toe on the hardwood Friday night and the homestanding Lady Wildcats emerged with a 45-41 victory. Game two turned the evening anti-climactic as 3A’s top-ranked Wildcats pasted Dale (10th in 2A) 82-52.
With the girls’ game tied at 28 with 6:09 remaining in the contest, senior point guard Brittany Watson stole a Dale pass, went the length of the court, scored the basket, was fouled, and hit the and-one freebie to give the Lady Wildcats a 31-28 advantage.

Ten Prague girls scored Friday night in a 49-39 victory over McLoud.
The seventh-ranked, Class 3A victors used a 15-7 second quarter to build a 24-14 halftime lead.
Hillary Dixon and Kate Sprague led Prague with 10 points apiece. Heather Farrill chipped in with nine for the Lady Red Devils as they went to 17-1.
For McLoud, Kiley Newsom was the top scorer with 16 points. Kelci Estep connected on three field goals from 3-point range while notching 11.
MIDWEST CITY — Ninth-ranked, Class 6A Shawnee needed one of its best games of the year to register a Friday night road win over Class 5A’s top-ranked Carl Albert.
That’s exactly what head coach Wendi Wells got as Shawnee blitzed the Titans 47-27 as Kelsee Grovey exploded for 28 points.
Shawnee (14-4) started fast with a 13-7 first quarter, then outscored the hosts 7-0 over the final eight minutes.
Ninth-ranked (Class 4A) Tecumseh saw its seven-game winning streak snapped Friday night with a 59-58 overtime setback to Byng.
Henry Weaver, who led Tecumseh with 23 points, missed a 15-foot jumper at the final buzzer of overtime.
