Meeker prevails in county battle

MEEKER — Three Meeker players scored in double figures Tuesday night as the Bulldogs trimmed Lincoln County rival Stroud 51-50.

Josh Whitfield and Drew Ellis netted 12 points each with teammate Dylan Thomas coming in with 10. Thomas had the deciding 3-point field goal with 15 seconds to go.

Ellis and Thomas posted two treys apiece.

Stroud had the ball with :07 to play but couldn’t get a shot off because Meeker had fouls to give.

Meeker moved to 5-11. Stroud fell to 3-12.

The Bulldogs will entertain Wellston Friday night.

Fourth quarter spurt keys Stroud girls

MEEKER — Kurstyn Young put in 15 points Tuesday night as Stroud’s girls held off Meeker, 53-47.

Stroud (5-11) outscored Meeker 18-13 in the fourth quarter.

Ashland Young and Kaitlyn Hughey tallied 11 points apiece for Stroud.

For Meeker, senior Torie Jennings was the top scorer with 14, followed by sophomore Aubrey Pruitt with 12.

Jennings and teammate Kennedy Brewster knocked down two 3-point shots apiece.

Ashley VanSchuyver of Meeker added nine points.

Hughey was accurate on three shots from 3-point range.

Stroud was 10 of 14 from the line. Meeker was just 8 of 18.

Meeker (7-10) will entertain Wellston Friday, then travel to Konawa Saturday.
