STROUD — Stroud’s girls outscored Meeker 7-2 in overtime Friday night to claim a 51-46 triumph.

Stroud went 5 of 8 from the charity stripe in the OT. Kylee Newman, Stroud’s leading scorer with 14, hit three free throws in the extra session while Caelyn Hunter hit two.

The free throw line was Meeker’s undoing. The Lady Bulldogs were just 10 of 28 while Stroud was 18 of 31.

With the game tied at 44, Meeker misfired on a 2-point field goal attempt with :04 left, necessitating the overtime.

Ashland Young recorded 12 points for Stroud and teammate Jaden Bunyard tossed in 10.

Meeker (7-13) was led in scoring by Madison Hodge with 11. Ashley VanSchuyer and Kennedy Brewster of Meeker totaled 9 apiece. Brewster had three of Meeker’s five 3-pointers.

Down 14-13 at halftime, Meeker went on an 18-10 spree in the third quarter. But Stroud retaliated by outscoring the visitors 20-13 over the final 8 minutes of regulation.

Stroud is 2-0 against Meeker this season.

Meeker will entertain Luther Tuesday night.
