Seminole improves record to 13-4
SEMINOLE — Three Seminole Chieftains scored in double figures Friday night en route to a 56-46 win over Okemah.
Adam Nance led the way for the victors with 16 points, followed by Shemmario Stephens with 13 and Phalan Wolf with 12. Wolf knocked down 3 shots from beyond the 3-point line.
Seminole (13-4) led 27-24 at the half and 35-28 after three quarters in going to 2-0 versus Okemah this season.
“We played really well defensively. We stayed out of foul trouble and kept them in front of us,” Seminole coach Josh Edenborough said.
Austin Titsworth of Okemah knocked down four treys en route to 12 points. Teammate Colton Hummingbird also finished with 12 and Seth Harjo posted 11.
Seminole was 11 of 17 from the line. Okemah was 4 of 6.
Byng will entertain Seminole Monday night. The Chieftains will also be on the road Tuesday versus Prague.
Lady Chieftains avenge setback
SEMINOLE — Lindsey Lofton tallied 17 points, including four 3-point field goals, as Seminole blistered Okemah 55-37 Friday night.
Destre Harrison added 16 points and Hayden Harjo finished with 10 as Seminole went to 10-7. The Lady Chieftains avenged a 53-45 loss to Okemah at the conference tournament.
Harjo was making her first start in the absence of Abby Carter, who was attending a national pom tournament in Orlando.
Seminole led 24-18 at the half and broke the game open with an 18-6 advantage in the third quarter.
For Okemah, Lexi Whorton was the leading scorer with 10, including two 3-point field goals.
Seminole was 10 of 16 from the charity stripe while Okemah was 5 of 8.
The Lady Chieftains will play four games next week, beginning Monday night at Byng. Seminole will play Tuesday night at Prague.
