The Oklahoma Baptist University rock climbing team took first place at the Oklahoma State Games Bouldering Competition at Climb Up in Norman Saturday, Jan. 28.

The Competition was an amateur event for climbers of all ages and abliities. Competitors earned points by completing climbs according to the difficulty of the climb, with the top five best scores and hardest climbs added together for their final score.

Competing against two other schools, University of Central Oklahoma and University of Oklahoma, OBU’s rock climbing team consisted of freshman Jacob Cunningham, sophomore Joe Geraci, seniors Tucker Schultz, Jessica Scott and Beth Clark and graduate student Scot Pfister.

Clark and Pfister took second in their individual divisions, Scott took third and Cunningham placed tenth.

The team is one of OBU's club sports used to bring together students of similar interests.

“Club sports are committed to developing students in accordance with OBU’s mission, by stimulating spiritual, intellectual, social, cultural and physical development,” a press release from the university said.

The team is preparing to climb in April at Oklahoma State University and Ozark Climbing Gym.
