SEMINOLE — Paced offensively by junior Cason Clark, Seminole knocked off McLoud 54-42 Friday night.
Clark, who recorded four 3-point field goals, netted a game-high 18 points. Clark has been Seminole’s leading scorer the last three games, including a 29-point outing versus Byng.
Shemmario Stephens added 12 points for the Chieftains and teammate Will Cotner had nine. Cotner was accurate on two shots from 3-point range.
Seminole led 24-10 at the half and 36-20 after three quarters. McLoud held a 22-18 edge in the final quarter.
“Once again in the fourth quarter, we struggled to finish the game,” Seminole coach Josh Edenborough said. “We weren’t good enough defensively. We have got to get a little better.”
Garrett Wilson, a 5-10 junior, was McLoud’s top scorer with nine, followed by Chase Mahtapene with eight.
Logan Wahpekeche, a sophomore, posted McLoud’s only 3-pointer.
McLoud (8-15) hit 65 percent (13-20) of its free throws. Seminole was at 41.6 percent (5-12) from the line.
Seminole (15-5) will entertain Tecumseh at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Chieftains are 2-0 versus Tecumseh this year. Seminole will play host to Wewoka Monday night.
