Second-seeded Altus blitzed seventh-seeded Shawnee 52-21 Friday at the Class 5A Dual State Championship at FireLake Arena.

Shawnee registered falls from Isaac Bertram (106), Kylin Workman (138) and Landon Hall (152). Each pin netted six points for Shawnee.

Caleb McClure, Shawnee’s 195-pound entrant, was on the plus side of a 5-2 decision for three team points.

“I felt like we fought. We were just outmatched,” Shawnee coach Larry James said. “We will try to get better this week to compete at regionals and get as many in the state tournament as we can.”

Dual State will wrap up today at FireLake. The noon semifinals will match undefeated Altus versus Collinsville and Coweta versus Lawton MacArthur. The championship match is set for 6:30 today.

The 5A regionals are scheduled next Friday and Saturday at Del City High School.

The top four finishers at each regional weight advance to the state tournament Feb. 24-25 at Oklahoma City’s State Fair Arena.
