DALE – The Dale Lady Pirates kicked off their season to open up the first ever Tecumseh-Dale Festival Friday with an 11-0 win over Leedy and 13-8 loss to Broken Bow. The Lady Pirates played host for four games at their high school for the tournament while Tecumseh hosted five others.
Delanie Manning led the way for the Lady Pirates in both games, homering three times, doubling twice and driving in eight runs on five hits through the day.
Lacey Hood had two hits with a triple and a homer and Skyler Thompson went 3-for-3 with a home run in the Leedy game.
Up 2-0 after two innings, the Lady Pirates rallied with nine runs in the third and fourth to end early on a run-rule. They scored 11 runs on thirteen hits and gave up three hits without committing an error.
Delanie Manning homered twice against Broken Bow and sister Dani Manning doubled twice on three hits. Mikayla Rutland also had three hits and doubled on one occasion.
Trailing 7-1 after three, the Lady Pirates put up six runs in the fourth and fifth to tie at 7. Broken Bow responded with two 3-run rallies for the win.
Dale had 15 hits, but was unable to convert several of those into runs. Broken Bow had 17 hits to score their 13 runs.
The Lady Pirates (1-1) will face Tushka at 10 in the morning Saturday followed by Silo at 11:15. Tecumseh played both teams in their first day of the tournament, beating Silo 9-8 and Tushka 16-14.
