CHANDLER – Bethel got their first win of the season Friday in an 8-7 extra-inning win over Christian Heritage at the Mark Howard Memorial Tournament.

Jaylyn Gordon went 1-for-5 and drove in two runs and Cameron Edgar homered to lead the Wildcats. Josh Elmore went 3-5 with a triple and an RBI and Andrew Barr went 3-4.

Trailing 6-3 going to the bottom of the seventh, the Savages rallied with three runs to force extra innings.

Brandon Carlyle scored on a Christian Heritage error and Gordon grounded out to score Clint Fitzgerald and get within one with one out. Barr scored on another error later in the inning to tie up the game.

The teams were stagnant until Christian scored on a double in the top of the 10th to retake the lead. With two out and two on in the bottom of the inning, Gordon singled to right to bring in Barnett from third and Fitzgerald scored on an error to end it.

The Wildcats (1-8) will finish their tournament run Saturday before traveling to Oklahoma City to play Harding Prep Monday at 4.
