McLOUD — The Lady Redskins of McLoud split two games Monday, defeating Konawa 9-1, then falling to Okemah 12-0.
In its opener, called after 4 ½ innings on the run rule, McLoud outhit the visitors 12-5 as Katelyn Hoover and Destiny Burge led the way with a double and single apiece.
Victorious hurler Amber Cribbs and Gabby Sears notched a two-bagger apiece.
Okemah, blitzed 13-0 by McLoud Saturday, reversed fortunes Monday in a game called after three innings on the run rule. Okemah netted eight runs in the second inning.
McLoud’s sole hit was a second-inning single by Sears.
“That was by far the worst we’ve played,” said McLoud coach J.D. Widner. “In the first game, we played really well. Our defense has been really good this season, but I was very irate in the second game because I just didn’t think we were ready to play.”
McLoud (5-2) was supposed to entertain Prague today, but the game was cancelled. Instead, the Lady Redskins will travel to Cushing for two games. McLoud will go up against Beggs at 5:45, then take on Cushing in the nightcap.
