TECUMSEH – Things got out of hand in a hurry Monday as the Tecumseh Savages played host to defending Class 4A champion Heritage Hall. The Chargers, coached by Shawnee graduate Breck Draper, punished the Savages with 10 runs in the first inning of the 14-2 defeat.

The Savages scored one run on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the first and Byron Thompson hit a ball that rolled deep to the center field wall to score Will Hilton in the bottom of the third.

Colby Trammell got the start on the mound for the Savages and was handed the loss. He gave up nine runs on two hits, two earned, and walked three before Kameron Permetter came in to replace him for the last out of the first.

Permetter would pitch for three more innings, giving up four runs on four hits, including a two-run homer in the top of the fourth. Hilton replaced him for the fifth and gave up one run.

The Savages (2-5) turn around to play at Heritage Hall today and complete the series.
