Spurred by two individual titles and a doubles crown, Shawnee’s girls captured the Suburban Conference six-team championship Monday at Shawnee.

Kristin Gilbert, after defeating a Western Heights’ foe 6-0, 6-1, won the No. 1 singles title by default over Carl Albert.

Makenzie Yort, Shawnee’s No. 2 singles entrant, also finished in title row with victories over El Reno (6-0, 6-0) and Piedmont (6-4, 6-4).

Also claiming a top spot was the No. 2 doubles team of Hayden Powell and Rose Templeton. Powell-Templeton prevailed 4-6, 7-5, 11-9 over Westerm Heights, then upended El Reno 6-4, 6-1.

The Lady Wolves’ No. 1 doubles unit of Jaci Johnson and Karsyn Reed came in fourth, losing to Carl Albert 6-2, 6-3 before winning 6-0, 3-6, 10-7 opposite Piedmont.

In the No. 1 doubles extra category, Lyle Boutdara-Stout and Kayla Garza of Shawnee went 1-1, falling to Chickasha 6-3, 6-1 before whipping Western Heights, 6-3, 6-3.

The No. 2 double extra team of Boutdara-Stout and Bodacious LeFlore came in sixth, falling to El Reno 6-4, 6-3, then knocking off Carl Albert 6-1, 4-6, 10-5.


Shawnee’s Wolves finished as the Suburban Conference runner-up to Carl Albert.

No. 2 singles representative Parker Stewart captured a title with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Carl Albert.

Johnny Stobbe, at No. 1 singles, came in second, losing to Carl Albert 7-5, 6-2 in the finals.

The No. 1 doubles team of Zach Young and Brennan Roark also finished as a runner-up, falling to Carl Albert 6-0, 6-0 in the finals.

Cody Parman and AJ Howard finished third at No. 2 doubles, losing to Western Heights 6-3, 6-2.
